I've decided to focus on the positive this morning, about how I adore my friends who send me music ideas, feed and amuse me, go to ridiculous restaurants for my ridiculous reasons, and manhandle me for my own good, rather than missing my swim this morning bc I got calls much too late and didn't wake up in time for my $@%^! reservation. I've been calculating this morning how much I'd have to swim to justify a third gym membership - turns out once a week would probably be enough for the JCC. Hm...

Kooza was almost as awesome as the company. The physical acting was entertaining in person (duh!). In the first act, I thought the contortionists were astonishing (my back hurt just watching them). I was disappointed with the trapezist - not sure if swinging is just that hard, but I felt like I could learn that stuff in a lesson or two, if I liked swinging, and there was no silk act :( I felt the high wire guys needed slightly better choreography to make their feats twice as amazing. But the second act... wow. The wheel of death was astonishing and scary and zomg. I was completely convinced they would die dead any minute. And ending with more dynamic acrobatics - including flying through the air and and landing on stilts! - was great. well worth every penny and hahaha, it's coming to NYC in April - I'd likely see it again if I had a good reason or cheap tickets (and considering I've been refusing to see ballet on someone else's dime...) And then of course this recession thingy suggests Las Vegas is going to get cheaper, woohoo. (That's focusing on the positive, see.)

Here is [livejournal.com profile] oakenguy's review that got me to see the show; now that I've seen the show, I recognize what appealed to him didn't impress me and vice versa, bc we come from different angles of circus appreciation; on the other hand, I'm so very glad he catalyzed this trip. Disagreed with [livejournal.com profile] coraline's review too, to be honest, although I'm glad she kept my expectations more reasonable.

Coincidentally, I happened to read John Ringo's review of Corteo recently. (Also, thanks to Love, Googling for that review got a lot of hits. His real name is George Paul, isn't it.) I'm not surprised mgmt was so cool - I was impressed with their customer service.

The hottest chick I've ever seen is presenting tonight at TES. Seriously. I'd spend twice as much time in the gym if I could look half that femininely buff.
