There really are no paleo or high-protein meals one can get delivered, other than a rotisserie chicken, are there.

Shouldn't you have to hunt for paleo meals?

Or gather them in the woods and fields, as the case may be?

My favoritest Crossfit anything is a mural at Primal Fitness of hunters with spears stalking grocery carts on the open savannah. (My second is this icon.)

Does high-protein include BBQ? You're making me want to call Redbones.

I get my rotisserie chickens from the bbq place next door to my apt :)

Is about this, huh? Seems like anything you could order for delivery inherently violates the spirit of the plan.

Roughly, and yes.

Basically, I noticed that everything I can get delivered to me is high carb, unless I just order a chicken. I want vaguely healthy lean protein to magically show up at my cube/apt.

Well... maybe if you lived closer...

If I lived closer, I'd have to go to Crossfit twice a day and three times on Sundays bc you have too many tasty things to eat nearby.

Chicken wings
Kebabs without rice/pita
Chinese without rice or with brown rice
Satay
Lettuce wraps with minced chicken
Salad with meat on it

These are all high protein. Not so sure about the paleo.

I don't do high-paleo, mostly a "try not to eat too much processed food unless you really have to, mmkay" diet.

This is a great list - you got a few which had slipped past me when I worked on this exercise earlier today. Thanks. Unfortunately, a lot of the above are high-fat :( I think the bottom line is, I need to bake large piles of meat more often and remember to buy lettuce too.

I wish the nearby kebab place wasn't so frightfully expensive - I *heart* Turkish food, but $20 for the same size as a Gooseberry's container is ridiculous.

I'm trying to work on reducing the amount of process foods front, too. Have been experimenting with cooking batches of chicken (or pork or other meat of choice) in a slow cooker. A coworker gave a tip of cooking the food overnight (on low 8-10 hours, so you can batch it before going to bed, shut it off in the morning, shred and containerize the meat into partial meal or full meal portions, put some in the refrigerator, some in the freezer and be good to go). This works GREAT for busy time schedules... but may impair sleeping if you're smelling the cooking chicken and get hungry... [wry grin?]

I bought some pyrex glass 3-cup rectangular containers that approximate the size of a frozen dinner that I can fill with a mix of frozen veggies, the cooked shredded meat of choice and some salad dressing, BBQ sauce, or other sauce/spices of choice, nuke it in the microwave for lunch or dinner and call it good.

Nice list! More ideas:
- oh...Chinese food without rice was already mentioned. Some of the Chinese menus here have a 'Healthy' section that has particularly low-fat options highlighted like 'Steamed Chicken with Mixed Vegetables'
- Sashimi
- Tandoori chicken
- various curry dishes...Indian and Thai and Carribbean?
- Brazilian BBQ - tons of meat on skewers
- steamed clams/mussels/lobster
- grilled/broiled fish, scallops, shrimp
- gyro or kebabs (skip the wrap or rice)
Now I'm hungry...

I've always thought the "healthy" section on the Chinese menu is a rip-off - I can make steamed veggies for a lot less than $8.95.

Tandoori chicken is brilliant though - I never think of biryani or tandoori when I'm considering delivery options, but whenever I do look at Indian menus, it's bc I'm in the mood for curry.

I feel like a lot of curries are too high in fat to be really good choices.

I wish I could get Brazilian bbq delivered. Mmm... meat!

True enough about it being a rip off. I figure it's just buying yourself some time when you pay for steamed veggies. I didn't realize curries were high in fat. They -seem- healthy. Brazilian BBQ would be perfect for your high-protein paleo diet. I don't live in the delivery area for the place I'm thinking of either but whenever I'm there, I see they do a brisk take-out and delivery business in addition to the people that are actually in the restaurant.

A lot of Americanized Indian food requires a lot of butter or cream :( I didn't realize how much until I started making it myself :(

I really need to look harder for a Brazilian bbq place near home - I love that stuff!

That sounds like a perfect excuse to eat a rotisserie chicken, to me. ;)

ooo bbq- it's not the BEST barbecue, but Dallas BBQ was my go to for a long time. No wait, halfway decent food, HUGE MARGARITAS. Yeesh. And they deliver.

But, here are my suggestions:
for thai, satays and spring rolls. If you're not into fried, you can sometimes get "fresh" spring rolls, which are soft and not cooked. And honestly, much better IMHO...

for chinese, i usually get some sort of meat item (spareribs?) and whatever the steamed vegetable dish on the diet menu is. Usually mixed veggies with some sort of ginger-y sauce. It comes with rice but you don't have to eat it.

uh, other ethnicities? Ethiopian? Is teff low carb? complex carb? It's probably less bad than white rice.

and lately instead of regular french fries i get sweet potato fries. but really, if you're eating fries what's the point? (lol.)

That's where I get my rotisserie chickens from. I've eaten there twice, probably wouldn't go again bc it's too crowded/noisy and besides, margaritas are EVIL.

spareribs are alas full of fat. I don't eat low carb enough to eat them :(
