Where in the world is Kate Stine?

In case you couldn't tell, I'm about a week or so behind on my lj entries, in part bc last week was very theater-full. Went to see Sherie Rene Scott at the Center and it was as delightful as I expected. She did an autobiographical? series of songs about growing up in a Mennonite family. Scott is a wonderful performer, the songs weren't bad, and although I was seated in the middle of the audience, I was 5? rows away: there were maybe 80 people in the audience and they served champagne during the show. Who could ask for anything more? Edit: oh and for an encore, she sang "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", which was awesome bc she has a perfect voice for it.
Anyone want to join me next month to see Douglas Sills in the same concert series?
I wish I could say as many good things about The Apple Tree. I went mostly to see Kristin Chenoweth, and she was fab of course. The play itself is kinda boring - the songs and plot are unmemorable. It's the sort of thing only MTG would do. Speaking of which, I ran into two old MTGers, includin the gal who played Eve in the last production we did of Apple Tree. Oh, and Marc Kudisch was in the show - is he in every show that comes to Broadway these days? He was in Faith Prince's Bells Are Ringing and Thoroughly Modern Millie and Beauty and the Beast and...
There's lots of good stuff coming up too. Next Monday, the Explorer's Club is having a talk on "The Global History of Exploration", which is a book promo, but sounds pretty cool, since apparently the author writes about some of the more obscure expeditions. I've been wanting to go to an Explorer's Club function for some time - it's one of the few clubs that won't have me (bc I don't go on scientific expeditions) that is awesome enough for me to want to join (bc they eat strange animals at their annual gathering).
Apparently Annie Leibovitz has a show at The Brooklyn Museum through Jan 21. It's out of boro, but she IS one of my fave photogs, so I'll probably go. Let me know if you're interested in joining me.
I'm totally up for ice skating, either in Bryant Park or Central Park, if anyone wants to go. Although I'm too busy for it, this weekend would be great - two people from climbing club are talking about going to the cliffs!!
Lastly, apparently Amazon has all sorts of cool promotions for the Christmas season, one of which is that if you buy $50 of food, cooking, or wine books, you get $10 off on their grocery stuff. Which is pretty awesome if you are a bibliophile who has spent months perusing cookbooks - they have better-than-Gristede's prices on almond paste and random obscure flours that Habeas Brulee uses, if you don't mind large packages. *hums the shopping song*
