Tues I woke up at 6am, but proceeded to BSOD over the size of my to-do list and played ZvP. Then I wrangled with both my old and new computers trying to download the audiobook of Michael Palin's Himalaya to no avail. Met OperaBoss for a very agreeable lunch at Landmarc: she'd ordered a yummy red, I had the lamb sandwich, they brought us pineapple cotton candy and the usual caramels as a dessert. yum. I remember there was one supercritical thing I needed to do that day, which I did, but I can't remember what it was. oh well.

That night, I finally redeemed my GroupOn for a running class with "Coach Mindy". well, at least I went running )

Weds morning, I went to take the continuing ed component for one of my licenses. I'm glad I did it, as a backup in case I fail my throw against my current career. It was supposed to take 3.5hrs; I finished in 45mins and got breakfast at the dirty Jamaican place in Penn Station, where I had a surreal conversation with an old dude from the West Indies. Then I hit the gym, went to see my therapist, and picked up my contact lenses. GMac called to mention he was at the AMNH, so I met him there. The new Member's Lounge is so sweet, I may renew my membership just so I can hang out there. I slept through "Journey to the Stars" but still learned that supernova are way more common than I'd've though. Then his daughter Kate and I ran around the planetarium and I failed to buy any books in the store. I was supposed to go skating that night, but felt too tired, so I went straight to Pongo's. for porn! )

Thurs morning, I stopped by the library for the first time since I got laid off. Somehow the one in Hell's Kitchen, the one I pass a soup kitchen to get to from my (former) office, is less filled with stinky loiterers than the one next to Lincoln Center. Grr. I didn't want to be in there a single moment longer than necessary. I met Jane and Junior for skating at Wollman Rink. Junior started the day refusing to leave the wall, despite our last outing and Jane got a blister and quit after an hour, but by the end, Junior was getting better. I hope we get to go skating again, so she remembers this for next year. Then we had lunch at Saks, which was elegant but also less snooty than I expected. I was too wiped out to move once I got home, so my darling bf told me to get some rest.

Fri morning, it wasn't raining at 8:30, so I grabbed my skates and ran to the rink -- only to find the ice was flooded. oops. Instead I had a 20min conversation with Mistress Mary Poppins that made me feel better than I had all week. Still didn't get much done before lunch with JDT though. We discussed careers and ate cheese and sandwiches at Cafe Ronda. MMP checked in with me again that afternoon and during THAT conversation, I unpacked from DOWF and generally got stuff done. My mum picked me up at 10:30pm and whisked me to Ct.

Sat we drove to Hartford to see The Addams Family with Douglas Sills. I want to see it again in six months with Pongo, it was so good ) The other star of the show was Morticia's costumer: how does someone dance in a dress that shows that much breast? And how do you make them look like that when the whole inner third is displayed???!? Dear Magic Eljay, how do I make my breasts do that?

We spent the rest of the weekend with my aunt and uncle. My uncle made us banh mi sandwiches (with pork instead of cold cuts) and that soup with the pineapple, shrimp, and vegetables. Sat night we went shopping bc apparently that's the only thing to do in the 'burbs, and I got tea and a steamer and a bathing suit and a dress to wear out of the dungeon. Then we watched Arabesque, bc it was better than Captain America or a Sean Penn movie, but not by much. It took much straining, but I got my mum and aunt to take me for exercise on Sun. I'd left route planning to my mum, so we ended up at a reservoir rather than somewhere with even light hills, so I treated it as a trail run rather than a hike. I got quality time with my father (it's hilarious hearing him use the "It upsets me when you..." formula); my aunt (who told her version of stories I'd heard from my mum about spring 1975 in Saigon); and my mum (who had questions about my favorite topic of conversation). Then my mum drove me home so I could get a good start to a hopefully more productive week.
