Remember that blister I got from wearing sneakers that were only 15mi old in that half marathon? It got worse. It popped during a recovery run on Weds; on Fri, it was red and infected. By the end of the day, I could feel my whole body fighting the infection and I almost called GMac to tell him I was too sick to help with the climbing course this weekend. Instead I bought more first aid supplies and headed to Ct.

GMac's been after me for years to stay at the motel with the other instructors and teach a whole weekend, instead of staying with my aunt who lives a half hour away to teach one day. Since he'd told me earlier in the conversation that he'd spend a week in Wa waiting for the weather to clear so he could take me to the top of Rainier, I felt obligated.

It's a good thing I didn't cancel, as two of the other instructors were more injured. The last person with whom he climbed outdoors apparently ruptured a disc. Separately, he'd gone up to Ct on Fri to check out the venue and do a little climbing - and his belay partner on that occasion happened to dislocate her wrist while setting up a rappel. As you may recall, the two week cold started bc I was supposed to climb with him and thus didn't take a sick day, so I couldn't resist teasing him.

I was in a pretty foul mood on Fri, mostly bc my immune system was flaring but also bc I'm often bored talking to my fellow Appies, bc there's only so much you can discuss your expeditions or club gossip. I was pretty much expecting the weekend to be a loss, but hey, at least I'd be repaying GMac's generosity in taking his summer vaca with me in the only coin I have.

Sat ended up being a lot more entertaining than I expected. what we did ) I've never been to the first weekend Saturday dinner, which they are now holding at El Sombrero. Tequila! )

The bad thing about being the knot TA is that I didn't set up top ropes with the other instructors on the first day. In which I suck and/or am underconfident )

I noticed my foot didn't hurt nearly as much on Sunday hurrah. Yoga this morning helped some of my overall soreness, but also helped me feel less cranky so yaay.
