As it turns out, I went to three social gatherings this weekend that all had pretty much the same people. Fri night was The Glittery One's goodbye party: boo that she's leaving, but I remember the night I met her, she was talking about how it's her essential nature to roam. I'm glad that she's doing what's true to herself and thankful I had 8 years to get to know her. Of course, it helps that she's moving somewhere I'll visit sometime in the next year.

Sat morning I got to introduce my fave Cambervillian foodie to a new place in Cambridge. Win! We did a mob barbecue picnic at Formaggio Kitchen. The pork ribs were extra-special tasty in ways I cannot describe. I also liked the pulled lamb (mmm... lamb) and the chile-lime corn (still can't figure out how they put that much flavor into the corn with a quick dip in the marinade).

Sat afternoon, I visited the DorkPrincess and her harried attendants and we went to her first Burning Man party. (Mine too, actually.) It was cool to see Yikes and Abilene again, since the last time I saw the former, she was breastfeeding and now she's old enough to play with glitter.

I was a little sad we left before the children were evicted from the BM party, but then Dr. Froshling suggested we could stop by REI. Oh nellie. They were having their quarterly garage sale, and it took me 30mins to spend $300 on incredibly nice gear )

And then we went to Summer Shack for dinner, which just rocked. Dr. Froshling and I tasted the Malpecque and Little Island oysters and I discovered that I dislike briny oysters. I wasn't terribly hungry, but ordered a steamed new shell 5/4lb lobster instead and spent the next half hour happily ripping it to shreds with my bare hands. It's so nice to eat with someone who understands how to enjoy your food and she tells me the waiter beamed at me; I didn't notice though bc I was too busy cracking and slurping :o) Best. Life. Evuh.

The next morning, we victualed for our hike at Sofra, the bakery of Oleana, in the world's most gourmet hike ever. And then we kept such a steady pace on the rock circuit trail at The Fells, we got back before we were hungry. (which is pretty impressive if you know either of us). It was pretty and rock scrambly and I wish we'd had more time to do the whole thing, bc who else will laugh that hard when I hop on the top of the lookout point to declare "I'm the queen of everything!" The best moment of the hike though was when I got back from my shower and Dr. Froshling shamefacedly slunk in and confessed that she'd eaten the entire whole grain salad while I was washing my hair. I do that too! Teehee.
