I went to my incompetent GP for my shoulder yesterday. He examined it, declared it to be a fat tumor, and told me he'd call in a few days with the name of a surgeon who'd remove it. He commented they just happen, asked if I had any others, and told me it had nothing to do with exercise and there is nothing I can do to prevent them. Needless to say, I'm getting a second opinion.

Do doctors always run your bloodwork every time you come in? As a healthy adult in her prime, I find it unnecessary, but he insisted. I did make the remark that I wanted to see my results this time - apparently he's been testing me for diabetes all along, which would've been interesting to know.

My mum's latest theory about my eating habits is that I have pre-diabetes. I've been running a little experiment lately, admittedly in part bc they raised prices at the vending machine in the middle of a severe recession and in an deflationary environment, and have been drinking less diet coke. I never was a big drinker - maybe 8oz on average per work day - but so far I've only had one insanity-inducing-hunger moment since. I'm thinking about laying in a stock of sugar-coke for those times when I want less caffeine - I think calories are better than crazy-hunger. My other theory is that my body wants 100g of protein per day and doesn't care how much other crap I have to eat to get there, so best to give it what it wants, hm? The real test of course is if I still believe this in 30 days.

Anyhow, I'm not sure if I should audition a new GP or look for a new orthopod/sportsmeddude. I wasn't so keen on the old one, as you may recall and the way I live my life, I probably need a good one. There's only so much the PT god can fix.
