[Recession Watch] Change Meme
Dec. 2nd, 2008 09:11 amQuick- check your pockets and tell me how old your pennies are.
A month or two ago, Petite Fromage, who knows this sort of thing, said that one of the signs of a recession is that older change starts showing up, bc people empty their piggy banks.
I didn't think much about that, but the other day, I was checking my pockets for vending machine fuel when I noticed one of the pennies said "ONE CENT", which I hadn't see in a while. It was from 1951. The other penny in my pocket was only from 1974!! oddly enough, my dimes were all recent vintage (and I used all my quarters before I remembered to check them). I assume there are more new quarters in circulation bc of the states thing. also, how come they didn't make a bigger fuss about all the new nickels or the new dollar coin??
