Humpday poll - Extreme body mod

Totally stolen from [livejournal.com profile] greybeta...

[Poll #1108531]

...but also bc I never realized there's more than one answer to Q3. Also, even I can't figure out what category aerial acrobatics belongs in for Q2: sports? martial arts? yoga/stretching? (I count it as such in my tabulations bc of the intense warmup)

I normally like to exercise every day, but crazy kid schedule and snow have kept me from my normal bike commute the last several weeks, limiting me to Early morning runs. Ah, to dream of Spring.

Until last week I was riding my bike to and from work every day but the snow and crap on the road has put an end to that for now. sad!

You don't have an option for "teach a fitness class" ;-)

Does the walking I do every day in my commute count? Or the baby curls? (Mr D. is >30 pounds, so picking him up should count for something.... my biceps have really developed this year, and it's totally due to him.)

I find exercise to be mind-numbingly boring, so I tend to just stay active. I stare at a computer all day, so afterwards, I try to find something physical to do. I might work on my boat, which doesn't sound like much, but I'm currently taking my 700-pound engine out of the boat, dismantling it down to the block, and putting it all together again, and re-decking some spongy parts. I work on home construction or woodworking. I sportfish, which again doesn't sound active except wrestling 30+ pound fish isn't easy, and more often than not, I end up dragging the entire boat around trying to haul a stuck anchor off a rock in 70' of water.

If I had a choice to exercise or just do something, I just go do it, but like your walking, I don't really consider it exercise. I don't really do it for the sake of fitness or health. I just like to do it, and the health benefits are almost accidental.

Any regular exercising on my part is entirely a result of vanity...
I play in the swamp, work in a Science Center doing animal chores and whatnot, and crawl around on the floor with turtles doing kids birthday parties, but I don't consider this "exercising"

Used to be I exercised so I'd stay sane and destressed instead of going postal. I'm no longer sane. Watch the news for someone in California who climbed up on the roof with a deer rifle. :-)

I consider random walking around and being active to be exercise. If that's the case, then I think everyone should exercise. But it seems like you think that exercising is only if you are doing something where the goal is to change your body in some way through physical activity. If that's the case, then I very strongly believe that no one really needs to exercise unless they want to.

its either take pills or work out or go blind. Working out seems much less expensive. Plus it really helps you problem solve in the afternoon.

#2: Other
I dance and I downhill ski. I find there's no better cardio than a 5 1/2 hour night out dancing salsa. :)
